About William Morris
William Morris was an English artist and medievalist, aligned with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, who became the foundational influence on the Arts and Crafts movement. In addition to his art, his literary works such as The Well at the World's End pioneered the High Fantasy genre later perfected by J.R.R. Tolkien.
William Morris was an early English socialist activist in the Marxian tradition. He founded the Socialist League and later the Hammersmith Socialist Society.
About the design
This is something I quickly threw together based on Kelmscott Press books. The background image was taken from one of the books, and rather heavily edited in order to be tileable.
The drop caps are a bit of a hacky system, reusing the typeface of the header in order to avoid having to load in a third typeface. The two typefaces are of course also based on the works of William Morris for Kelmscott Press.
